      Dr.Mabelle & Dr.Rajnikant Arole - Oration
In honor of its first President Dr.Mabelle Arole, SOSVA instituted an Oration in her name which held annually.
In memory of late Dr.Rajnikant Arole who passed away recently the oration is now titled as the Dr.Mabelle Arole & Dr.Rajnikant Arole - Oration

  • National and World Day Events
    VOLACT with its volunteers participate in various national and world events as for example:

  • International Women’s Day through talks and seminars.
  • Children’s Day through toy donation drives.
  • World AIDS day through organizing essay and poster competitions among college students.
  • World Volunteers Day when VOLACT staff and volunteers get an opportunity to interact and share experiences.

    SOSVA's theme 2012: Supporting Women Economic Empowerment.
    In this context, workshops to teach baking to Aastha Parivar were arranged.

    SOSVA conducted an essay writing competition for students across colleges in Mumbai. There were 38 entries received on the following topics.

  • The Challenges faced in controlling HIV/ AIDS in Mumbai City.
  • Involving youth in the fight against HIV/ AIDS.
  • The vulnerability of women to HIV/AIDS

  • The winners were:
  • 1st Prize - Ms. Shaikh Iran Fatima , SNDT, Ghatkoper
  • 2nd Prize – Mrs. Arundhati Chatterji – St. Andrews College
  • 3rd Prize – Mrs. Heena Khan – Jhunjhunwala College

    International volunteers day celebrated on 22nd December, 2011 at Ramkrishna Mission, Khar (West) , Mumbai. The SOSVA Volunteers performed cultural dances. This was followed by an open forum session were volunteers could share their views, experiences and suggestions.

    SOSVA held toy donation drive for children for whom toys otherwise would have been a distant dream. We collected soft toys, board games, puzzles, blocks, drawing books and 7 events were conducted across the city. A toy library was established at Manisha Vidyalaya Vashi.

    A WALK FOR WATER was organised to mark World Water day, around 600 students took part in a walk with banners & posters at various locations around Mumbai echoing the theme “Save Water – Safe Water”.

    Like every year, this year too SOSVA has initiated notebook donation drive for various organizations. With your enthusiastic support last year we were fortunate to collect around 5,000 notebooks. The notebooks were donated to 10 NGOs across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. We hope to experience the similar kind of support from our volunteer this time too and reach out to many more children who are deprived of education due to poverty.
